On 1 July 2020, Intrakoop and SimpleComply organised a webinar for representatives of leading Dutch laboratories.
The discussion focused on the Sterilwave process and the on-site treatment of defined laboratory and infectious healthcare waste streams. Participants examined the practical implications for safety, validation, logistics, cost and environmental impact. No technology is automatically cheaper or more sustainable in every situation; the outcome depends on actual volumes, waste composition, site conditions and the permitted downstream route.
A current decision should therefore include a waste acceptance matrix, capacity assessment, occupational risk assessment, validation plan, business case, permit check and a documented route for treated material.
