Circularity & collaboration

SimpleComply proud to join EnCiMed consortium for circular medical plastics

SimpleComply has formally joined EnCiMed as an industrial partner. Together with TNO and partners across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, materials science, decontamination and recycling, we are working towards a safe circular value chain for medical and pharmaceutical plastics.

From linear waste stream to circular resource

EnCiMed stands for Enabling Circularity in Medical and Pharmaceutical Plastics. It connects effective decontamination, high-quality sorting and recycling with a clear regulatory framework for safe material reuse.

The public-private Health~Holland project is planned to run from September 2026 through August 2028, with TNO as project coordinator.

SimpleComply’s contribution

SimpleComply contributes practical expertise in medical-waste decontamination, process validation and compliance. We provide knowledge and test capacity for treatment methods including microwave-based inactivation.

We also contribute to criteria for demonstrably safe handling of decontaminated waste and to the compliance and permitting routes needed for scalable circular applications. Under the Dutch Circular Materials Plan, recycling decontaminated healthcare waste under EWC code 18 01 04 is in principle permitted where suitable options exist.

Collaboration as an accelerator

Circular healthcare requires a functioning chain from waste stream and decontamination through sorting, material preservation, recycling, regulation and new applications. EnCiMed connects our operational healthcare-waste expertise with scientific research and industrial capability.
