In deze pilot zijn 10 kinderen op de afdeling neuro-oncologie 24 uur gemonitord met CheckPoint Cardio\u2122 (CPC) van SimpleComply.<\/h2>\n<p>Samen met de verpleegkundigen en in overleg met hun ouders, zijn kinderen in de leeftijd van 4 tot 18 jaar benaderd. Van hen werden vitale functies 24 uur lang met behulp van CPC gemonitord. De vitale fysiologische parameters zuurstofsaturatie, non-invasieve bloedruk, hartslag, ademhaling en temperatuur werden gemeten en op een speciaal meegeleverde laptop aan de verpleegkundigen getoond. Ter voorbereiding kregen de kinderen via een animatiefilmpje uitleg over de meting.<\/p>\n<h3>Ervaringen<\/h3>\n<p>Deze pilot was opgezet om de ervaringen van kinderen, hun ouders en de verpleegkundigen te verzamelen. In een enqu\u00eate konden ouders hun ervaringen noteren. Daaruit bleek dat het ontbreken van draden, normaliter gekoppeld aan de meetapparatuur, de kinderen veel meer bewegingsvrijheid gaf, zowel in bed als daarbuiten. Ook het feit dat de kinderen &#8217;s nachts niet wakker gemaakt hoefden te worden voor het meten van bijvoorbeeld bloeddruk of temperatuur werd als een enorm voordeel ervaren. Ouders gaven aan dat dit in de toekomst in de thuissituatie ook meer rust zou kunnen geven.<\/p>\n<h3>Evaluatie<\/h3>\n<p>Uit de pilot kwamen belangrijke verbeterpunten. Zo blijkt het CPC apparaat qua draagcomfort beter geschikt voor kinderen vanaf 10 jaar. Tijdens het slapen werd het batterij-indicatielampje als te fel ervaren. De oorclip voor het meten zuurstofsaturatie werd door sommige kinderen bij langdurig gebruik als minder prettig ervaren. SimpleComply neemt deze leerpunten mee bij de verdere CPC- productontwikkeling. Er is overigens al een kleinere, meer comfortabele CPC verkrijgbaar en de verwachting is dat met een eenvoudige aanpassing het indicatielampje eventueel kan worden uitgezet. In een volgend ontwerp zal bluetooth technologie worden gebruikt waardoor er geen verbinding met draden nodig is voor de temperatuursensor. Ook zal een sensor de oorclip volledig kunnen vervangen. Dergelijke aanpassingen zullen het draagcomfort voor kinderen aanzienlijk verbeteren.<\/p>\n<h3>Verdere ontwikkeling<\/h3>\n<p>Behalve gebruik van CPC in het ziekenhuis kan dit in de toekomst leiden tot een eventueel vervroegd ontslag omdat de benodigde metingen ook thuis plaats kunnen vinden. De verpleegkundigen waren enthousiast over de pilot, maar vinden de CPC nog niet voor alle kinderen voldoende geschikt.
