Laboratories have a different waste profile from hospitals. Microbiological cultures, blood samples, sharps and other biologically contaminated materials require accurate classification, clear acceptance criteria and a controlled, traceable treatment process.<\/p>\n

Infectious laboratory waste requires a dedicated approach<\/h2>\n

The Dutch Circular Materials Plan explicitly identifies laboratories and research centres as sources of healthcare waste. Waste generated by the propagation of pathogens and non-decontaminated microbiological laboratory waste may fall under EWC 18 01 03*. Classification and treatment must therefore reflect the actual waste stream and the laboratory procedures that apply.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sterilwave is relevant to eligible infectious laboratory waste. SimpleComply determines suitability from composition, classification, local procedures and a site-specific waste acceptance matrix, not simply from the type of laboratory.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Infectious clinical waste under EWC 18 01 03* that falls within the validated acceptance matrix and applicable conditions, including eligible microbiological materials and sharps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Body parts and organs (18 01 02), cytotoxic and cytostatic medicines (18 01 08*), chemicals and radioactive waste do not belong in this decontamination route.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Specific assessment<\/h3>\n

GMO-related streams, Category A material and other exceptional biological waste require separate assessment of containment, regulation, permits and validation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
